Sometimes we as believers feel far from God. We pray, scream, cry, but God seems to be silent. Perhaps we are so small in His kingdom, that He does not have time for us.
In the time of Abraham, gods were worshiped in a hierarchy. There were national, patron deities which directly spoke to the kings and priests of the land, but were far from the lay person.
Then there was the household, family deity which was believed to have a constant relationship with a particular household. We know none of these gods existed, but it does make you wonder.... Is God close as a family member, or far away as a ruler?
