Feast of Trumpets 2022

A Time of Shouting, Remembrance, and Spiritual Warfare

This Bible teaching from Founded in Truth Fellowship centers on the Feast of Trumpets, also known as Yom Teruah or Rosh Hashana, and its profound significance for believers. The speaker emphasizes that this is a time for shouting, celebration, rejoicing, and praise. It’s an appointed time, a moedim, when believers come together to worship and connect with the Father in a special way.

The blowing of the trumpet, or shofar, is a central aspect of this feast. Drawing from Numbers 10:1-10, the speaker explains that the trumpet serves multiple purposes. It is used to summon the community, to signal the breaking up of camp, and to call together the leaders and heads of tribes. Furthermore, it acts as an alarm in times of war, reminding God’s people to be remembered and delivered from their enemies. The trumpet is also sounded during days of rejoicing, at feasts, and on new moons, as well as over burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, serving as a reminder of Adonai, their God. Leviticus 23:23-25 further clarifies that the first day of the seventh month is to be a Shabbat rest, a memorial blowing of the shofar, and a holy convocation, with no regular work to be done and an offering made by fire to Adonai.

The speaker highlights that celebrating the Feast of Trumpets is an act of spiritual warfare, a declaration that Yeshua is going to come back and reign again. It is a time to shout from the mountains that He is King and Lord. As believers enter the ten days of Awe leading up to Yom Kippur, it is a period for introspection, to search their hearts and make things right with neighbors, friends, and family, committing to fasting and entering Yom Kippur with a fearful heart.

Spiritual Weapons for the Believer

The teaching also delves into the spiritual weapons that God has given to believers, emphasizing the importance of not throwing them down in anger, unforgiveness, frustration, bitterness, or judgment. The speaker uses the analogy of a young warrior who, in a fit of anger, discarded his weapons and ultimately led his people to destruction. This serves as a powerful reminder that believers must actively engage with and utilize their spiritual arsenal.

  • The Word of God: This is described as living and active, sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing the heart and discerning thoughts and intentions. It transforms, breaks bondages, speaks life, and has the power to make the enemy flee. Believers are encouraged to be in the Word of God, to know it, and to allow it to speak to their lives.
  • Prayer: The Holy Spirit intercedes for believers when they don’t know what to pray. Prayer builds up faith, allows for the Father’s will to be done, and when combined with scripture, becomes a lethal weapon that breaks chains and opens doors. Believers are urged to turn their worries and fears into prayer and to intercede for their brothers and sisters.
  • Fasting: This is a powerful tool for breaking freedom and bondage, finding direction, humility, intimacy with the Father, and spiritual growth. Yeshua fasted, as did Esther and Nehemiah, demonstrating its importance. Fasting denies the flesh and prioritizes the Father’s desires, fostering self-discipline. Sometimes, deliverance can only come through prayer and fasting.
  • Worship: Worship in spirit and truth surrounds believers with the Father, recognizes His sovereignty, and creates intimacy with Him. It is a tool that can break bondage, set captives free, and lift believers from low places. Worship is to be offered in all seasons—through tears, in joy, in hurt, and in sickness—showing allegiance to the King.
  • Testimony: Sharing and remembering what God has done is a powerful weapon that encourages others and builds up faith. Testimonies make God real and remind believers that He is living and active. They declare God’s kingship and His power to set people free. Believers are encouraged to share their testimonies without fear or shame, as they contribute to the defeat of the enemy.
  • Thanksgiving: Entering God’s courts with thanksgiving changes the atmosphere and fights darkness. It can keep depression away, stop the enemy in its tracks, and help believers stay focused on their mission to be examples and share the gospel. Even when circumstances are difficult, being thankful fosters trust in God and can lead to a better perspective.
  • The Name of Yeshua: This is a powerful and wonderful name, exalted above every other name. At the call of His name, every knee will bow. However, the power in invoking the name of Yeshua comes from a relationship with Him, where believers put on His righteousness. Through this relationship, the enemy will flee at His name.

Application for Everyday Life

  • Engage with the Word of God daily to receive guidance, strength, and truth. Meditate on scriptures and allow them to transform your thoughts and actions.
  • Cultivate a consistent prayer life, bringing all your needs, worries, and praises before God. Intercede for others and seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance in your prayers.
  • Consider incorporating fasting into your spiritual practice for specific needs, seeking deliverance, direction, or deeper intimacy with God.
  • Worship God regularly, both privately and corporately, with your whole heart. Express your love and reverence for Him through songs, praise, and adoration, regardless of your circumstances.
  • Share your personal testimonies of God’s goodness and faithfulness with others to encourage them and glorify God. Remember what God has done in the past to build faith for the future.
  • Practice thankfulness in all circumstances. Consciously acknowledge God’s blessings, even amidst challenges, to maintain a positive perspective and ward off negativity.
  • Nurture your relationship with Yeshua to effectively use His name in prayer and spiritual warfare. Live in obedience to Him and rely on His righteousness.
  • During challenging times, especially around feast days, be mindful of spiritual battles and actively employ your spiritual weapons against self-doubt, conflict, and negativity.
  • Embrace the Feast of Trumpets as a time for joyful celebration, remembrance of God’s promises, and a declaration of Yeshua’s future return.
  • Use the sound of the shofar, whether literal or figurative, as a call to gather together with fellow believers, to be alert to God’s purposes, and to rejoice in His presence.
